What's the opportunity?
AI is being adopted across the force — from pilots using AI-assisted decision aids to contracting officers evaluating procurements with novel risk profiles... But while every functional area now uses AI, proficiency with AI is not evenly distributed. Unlocking AI’s full potential requires us to do two things: Translate the vague idea of “AI fluency” into measurable, role-specific proficiencies, and then design mission-specific trainings that meet those objectives.
What are the challenges? Most AI trainings are generic — a single course or seminar that treats every learner the same regardless of role. As a result, we have no agreed-upon set of ‘best practices’ to guide our use of AI, and little to no role-specific knowledge that is specialized to a given mission. Until we create objective benchmarks and associated trainings to meet those benchmarks, AI fluency is open to interpretation.
How to make it real?
Digital University (DU) is built for exactly this kind of variation. DU is a single accredited platform that’s flexible enough to deliver role-specific AI fluency across every career field. Currently DU has operational deployments that span four career fields where AI is actively reshaping the work: cyber (DCWF roles including DevSecOps Specialist, AI Adoption Specialist, AI Innovation Leader, and ISSM, with formal DoDM 8140.03 qualification credit), acquisitions (Program Manager, IT Project
Manager, Product Support Manager), administrative (a three-tier enterprise AI fluency
architecture spanning leadership, engineering, and functional staff), and intelligence
(multi-INT fusion, GEOINT, OSINT triage, and synthetic-media detection). In addition,
active deployment with USSF STARCOM Guardians delivers CFM, UTM, and leader-level visibility into progress, completion, and proficiency against role.
Call to Action:
Join us to walk through how DU develops trainings to teach AI fluency in a role-specific learning environment. Learn how DU creates measurable proficiency across cyber, acquisitions, administrative, and intelligence career fields — and leave with concrete upskilling pathways that can be available to your workforce today. We'd welcome perspectives from CFMs, training leaders, and professional development teams shaping how AI fluency becomes mission readiness.
