Every system earns its ATO against a snapshot in time. But the environment doesn't hold still. Cyber risk decision makers have a data rich environment including log data, CSSPs, endpoint device assessments, and penetration testing but lack a single to correlate data at machine speed. With the advancement in AI, vulnerabilities are being identified faster than ever in history. The real question is not "do we have enough visibility?" It's "given everything we already know, what action do we take next, and where does the next cyber dollar go?"
An effective continuous monitoring strategy allows you to prioritize decisions (what do we do? Where do we spend?) and sustain a strong cyber posture. This session walks through what it takes to operationalize Continuous Monitoring, bringing it into the mission view.
Successfully operationalizing your continuous monitoring should lead to a Continuous ATO (cATO), which transforms an ATO from a point-in-time authorization into a continuous decision process that allows leaders to determine whether risk remains acceptable as threats, vulnerabilities, and mission conditions evolve.
The cATO should be a living decision loop: correlating real-time threat, log, and assessment data against the specific conditions, surfacing exactly what an ISSM/ISSO needs to know, and what action keeps that authorization defensible.
We'll use Arlo Solutions' Decision Beacon as one working example of this approach in practice. Attendees will walk away with a way of thinking about Continuous Monitoring and Continuous Authorization any organization can apply, regardless of tooling.
