As AI systems evolve from simple chat interfaces to autonomous agents capable of planning, reasoning, and executing tasks, workforce development strategies must evolve as well. Success in the AI era will depend less on teaching personnel how to interact with a single tool and more on preparing them to effectively supervise, guide, and collaborate with increasingly sophisticated AI teammates.
This presentation explores an emerging framework for human-AI teaming education that moves beyond prompt engineering and focuses on operational employment of agentic systems. Participants will examine practical approaches for teaching personnel how to evaluate AI outputs, establish trust boundaries, manage AI-driven workflows, and maintain appropriate human oversight.
The session will provide examples of training pathways designed to prepare Airmen and Guardians for environments where AI agents assist with cyber operations, software development, acquisition activities, mission planning, and knowledge management. Lessons learned from implementing AI-focused workforce development initiatives will be discussed, along with recommendations for scaling AI literacy across large organizations.
