The Department of the Air Force is under pressure to modernize faster, secure more aggressively, and deliver digital capability from enterprise headquarters to the tactical edge. Too often, solving an operational problem requires a long chain of DevSecOps teams, systems integrators, bespoke application development, data engineering, cyber review, and direct warfighter participation in software design sessions. The result is predictable: mission experts are pulled away from the mission, modernization cycles stretch, institutional knowledge is lost, and urgent operational needs become software backlogs.
This session introduces a different model: Agentic AI as a secure mission execution layer.
Agentic AI enables authorized users to convert operational requirements, data, policy, business rules, and decision logic into governed AI agents, workflows, What-IF, Policy cases, dashboards, recommendations, and mission applications. Rather than forcing every problem through a custom software build, learn how Agentic AI allows warfighters and staff operators to describe the mission outcome while the platform orchestrates the data connections, workflow logic, AI agents, audit trails, and human-in-the-loop controls needed to execute it.
The panel discussion will focus on how agentic platforms can reduce reliance on one-off development, preserve operational knowledge, accelerate legacy modernization, and give CIO, cyber, and MAJCOM leaders a repeatable way to deliver secure digital capability without creating another fragile app portfolio. Agentic AI does not replace DevSecOps, systems integrators, or mission experts. It changes their role: from hand-building every solution to governing a reusable, secure, AI-enabled operating environment.
Attendees will leave with a practical framework for identifying mission workflows that are ready for agentic modernization, understanding where human oversight and cyber governance must remain central, and seeing how Agentic AI can move the Air Force from software backlog to mission execution.
Learning Objectives:
- Distinguish chatbot AI from operational Agentic AI embedded into mission, business, cyber, and command workflows.
- Understand how Agentic AI reduces the burden on warfighters by capturing mission intent, decision logic, and workflow requirements without requiring operators to become software designers.
- Examine how Agentic AI changes the role of DevSecOps and systems integrators from custom builders of every application to governors of reusable, secure mission platforms.
- Identify workflows suited for agentic modernization, including planning, logistics, budgeting, acquisition, readiness, cyber response, reporting, and legacy system replacement.
- Explore governance requirements for responsible deployment, including auditability, human-in-the-loop review, data security, explainability, model controls, and mission authority.
