Description

Modern cyber operations face severe operational bottlenecks when confronting black-box software risks, where critical vulnerabilities and adversarial threats lurk deep within compiled code without source code access. Traditional manual reverse engineering and malware triage move significantly slower than the speed of contemporary threats. While the broader industry remains entangled in the commercial hype cycles and philosophical constraints of monolithic large language models (LLMs), such as the Anthropic Mythos dilemma, tactical military cyber operations demand deterministic, ruggedized, and bespoke AI/ML  pipelines.

This presentation demonstrates how to transcend basic generative AI implementations by diving into the underlying technical architecture that drives automated, static binary analysis and zero-day discovery. Rather than relying on external web dependencies, this session dissects a Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) framework built to run locally and within strictly air-gapped enclaves. We will explore the technical mechanics of binary ingestion pipelines: extracting complex structural features, compiling metadata into dense mathematical embeddings, and structuring vector databases to allow LLMs to perform direct contextual interrogation of compiled code.

Furthermore, we will address the challenges of scaling static analysis across highly fragmented environments. The discussion will outline engineering strategies for parsing diverse file structures, such as ELF, PE, Mach-O, Android Package Kits (APK), and raw firmware, across variable hardware architectures including x86/x64, ARM/ARM64, MIPS, and PowerPC (PPC). Attendees will gain insight into how automated static binary analysis can be coupled with automated decompilation frameworks, such as NSA’s Ghidra, to map insecure code patterns, identify reachable zero-day vulnerabilities, and cross-reference known N-days against global databases rapidly and at scale.

Additionally, this technology must be proactively utilized to evolve how we execute malicious analysis for national security purposes. By shifting malware analysis from a reactive posture to an automated, predictive capability, advanced localized AI models can trace control flow variations, decode obfuscated logic, and expose hidden malicious payloads. This pipeline transforms raw malicious binaries into actionable threat intelligence and predictive indicators and warnings (I&W). Ultimately, extracting these high-fidelity technical indicators provides the rapid network defense and early warning capabilities necessary for securing tactical weapon systems and safeguarding national critical infrastructure.

The architectural frameworks and technical methodologies detailed throughout this session are grounded in proven engineering paradigms, research and development activities, and deployment strategies established within our operational portfolio.
